The Mediation Process

Mediation is a process in which a neutral third party assists in the resolution of a dispute.  It is an informal and non-adversarial process designed to help the parties reach a mutually acceptable agreement.  The mediator helps the parties identify important issues, clarify misunderstandings, explore solutions and negotiate a settlement rather than having a costly and time-consuming trial.  Mediation allows the disputing parties to take control of the outcome of their case rather than letting a Judge determine the outcome for them.  Additionally, mediation is a more economical way for parties to resolve pending issues.
